TALLHEDA

New long-term alliances for digital agriculture

About the TALLHEDA project
TALLHEDA is a HORIZON project that is aimed at establishing a new long-term alliance for digital agriculture between the Faculties of Agriculture from Novi Sad and Athens, in cooperation with the private sector that deals with digital technologies in agriculture.

Why TALLHEDA?
Serbia and Greece, as countries that belong to the so-called Widening countries are still lagging behind the European average when it comes to:

  • Investments in research and innovation
  • Scientific excellence
  • Application of digital technologies in agriculture

It is in this context that higher education institutions in these countries can play a key role. However, they need support to strengthen their capacities in the field of digital agriculture.

Partnership with acclaimed leaders
Higher education institutions from Belgium, which are at the forefront of establishing effective innovation ecosystems, bring experience and knowledge to the project in:

  • Connecting universities with industry
  • Using digital innovations in agriculture
  • Developing cooperation with competence centers and digital innovation hubs

Goals of the TALLHEDA alliance:

Creation of international and intersectoral cooperation

Strengthening the research and educational capacities of the Faculties of Agriculture in Serbia and Greece

Support for students, researchers and teaching staff

Active involvement of local and international stakeholders

Through the quadruple helix of innovation (science, industry, public sector and civil society), the alliance aims to improve the entire ecosystem of digital agriculture in the region.

How to achieve that?

  • Joint educational and research activities
  • Access to top research infrastructure
  • Mobility of teaching and research staff
  • Exchange of expertise and good practices between partners

Long-term impact
TALLHEDA will help higher education institutions in widening countries to:

  • Reform educational programs
  • Improve pedagogical and management practices
  • Strengthen research and innovation capacities
  • Raise a critical mass of experts for the process of digital transition in agriculture
